PHIL is Philipp Zuercher, a musician and producer in Bern – Switzerland. His ongoing involvement with live looping and guitar music concepts was detailed in a Guitar Player article a few years back (USA, English). And a vivid biographical portrait of Phil’s was recently featured in Der Bund (German).
ZOIA is a virtual modular system by Empress Effects. For Ambient_X and all follow-up projects, Philipp has programmed an array of interactive musical controls into his original ZOIA patches, resulting in some astonishing loop effects. Sound input is generated by electric guitar or pedal steel guitar exclusively.
