PHIL is Philipp Zuercher, a musician and producer in Bern – Switzerland. His ongoing involvement with live looping and guitar music concepts was detailed in a Guitar Player article a few years back (USA, English). And a vivid biographical portrait of Phil’s was recently featured in Der Bund (German).

ZOIA is a virtual modular system by Empress Effects. For Ambient_X’s improvisatory purposes, Philipp has programmed a heap of interactive musical controls into all his individual ZOIA patches, resulting in some astonishing loop effects. Sound input is generated by the electric guitar or pedal steel guitar exclusively.
